When your dog is your everything, capturing the love you share in a place that feels relaxed, beautiful, and true to your story makes all the difference.
Based on the Surf Coast in Victoria, I’m lucky to photograph dogs and their families in some of the most breathtaking locations our region has to offer. From quiet sunrises to bold coastal textures, the right spot can shape the mood and emotion of your session in the most magical ways.
Here are some of my favourite dog-friendly locations to photograph — places that not only look beautiful, but feel calm, meaningful, and made for connection.
📍 Thirteenth Beach (Barwon Heads)
Located west of Barwon Heads, Thirteenth Beach stretches along 4.5km of raw, rugged coastline — a location that truly comes alive in soft light.
It’s absolutely stunning at sunrise, especially at low to mid tide, when the wide sandy beach and rolling dunes are bathed in a golden glow. The space here feels endless, making it ideal for dogs who love to run, roam, and be themselves. It's usually quiet, though occasionally you might spot a few horses in the early mornings.
Best for: sunrise sessions, high-energy dogs, natural textures and layered landscapes
📍 Point Addis (Anglesea)
Set within the Point Addis Marine National Park, this dramatic coastline delivers big visual impact with its crumbling limestone cliffs, rocky platforms, and rich earthy tones.
It’s one of my favourite spots for sunrise, though it also photographs beautifully at sunset — as long as we begin a little earlier to catch the light before it slips behind the cliffs.
One thing to note: the beach is accessed via a set of stairs, so it may not be suitable for dogs (or humans) with mobility limitations. But for those who can manage it, it’s worth every step.
Best for: golden light, adventurous spirits, natural drama
📍 Urquhart Bluff (near Aireys Inlet)
Just 6km west of Anglesea and tucked quietly off the Great Ocean Road, Urquhart Bluff is a peaceful and scenic spot that’s especially magical at sunrise.
With its wide open beach, rugged rock pools, and large limestone cliffs, the textures here are stunning. It’s typically very quiet, and the soft morning light makes it ideal for slow, soulful sessions.
There’s also flat, easy access from the carpark, making it a perfect choice for senior dogs or anyone needing a more accessible location.
Best for: calm dogs, senior pets, gentle storytelling, accessible sessions
📍 Eastern Beach (Geelong)
Although I haven’t photographed here just yet, Eastern Beach is a lovely future option for a more urban setting.
With its curved promenade, heritage charm, and palm-lined foreshore, it offers something a little different — ideal for on-lead dogs or clients who love a classic Geelong backdrop with structure and city-coastal energy.
Best for: on-lead dogs, early morning light, heritage architecture lovers
✨ Finding the Right Spot for You
Each of these locations offers something unique — but what matters most is how it feels.
Your dog’s comfort, your energy, and the connection you share are what truly bring a session to life.
Whether we’re walking through golden dunes at Thirteenth, sharing a quiet sunrise at Urquhart Bluff, or climbing the cliffs of Point Addis, my goal is to create beautiful, timeless artwork that reflects who your dog is, and what they mean to you.
Based in Geelong & Torquay, I offer on-location dog photography sessions across the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula, and beyond.
If you're ready to capture your dog's story in a way that feels true, relaxed, and lasting — I’d love to hear from you.
